At this new residence on Long Island, we did some post and
beam construction along with the siding and interior trim.
The wood we used was mostly recycled antique barn wood supplied
by the company Chestnut Woodworking in Connecticut. Bob Friedman,
from that company, did the chestnut floors in the house and
recommended that we build the garage with his recycled beams.
We used his beams also on the pool house, lattice walkway
and a screened porch. On most of the house we installed cedar
shingle siding, but on one end we installed some of Bob's
recycled silver-weathered barn siding. The two types of siding
next to each other make a nice combination. Click
